Day Thirteen

I was getting ready to watch the Opening Bell on CNBCTV18, and was taken aback when I realised that it is Saturday. Anyway, today is Qingming, the tomb sweeping day in China, a day to remember the dead. And Chinese authorities want to make it a virtual one this year to avoid people coming together at cemeteries. Some cemeteries will livestream the tomb sweeping ritual by a cemetery staff member. A story in Washington Post (behind paywall, but I managed to read it on the cell phone), says that many in Wuhan are yet to bury their dead. The article says that China has grossly understated the fatalities, and the actual dead could be as high as 40,000 plus, 16 times more than the official number. Another story says that China has underreported cases by a factor of 20. If this is true, then it puts the casualties in Italy, Spain and USA, in a completely different perspective. The false reporting by China has wrecked the planning of other countries.
