Day Eleven

The chances of getting re-infected are extremely low, say the experts. So, those who have recovered from COVID19 will be the ones who will kick start the revival of the economy. This is also true for those who have been infected without developing any symptoms; and this number is believed to be quite large. Now a 15-minute antibody test has been developed to identify these people who have immunity against the virus. I suppose, some of the lucky ones in this group can command a premium for their skills in the job market.

Government is now placing COVID19 patients into 4 categories
1)      Those who just need to be watched and kept in isolation
2)      Those who need to be in a high dependency unit, probably needing oxygen
3)      Those who need to be in ICU
4)      Those who need ventilator support.
The new thinking is to keep the first group, about 80 to 85%, in home isolation, so as not to clog the hospitals and also reduce the likelihood of infecting the healthcare workers.

Hospitals are businesses too and are built to earn money and make profits. They will find a way to operate at high bed occupancies. There is no slack in the hospital system. It is not built for pandemics and we have to find ingenious solutions to handle emergencies.

Meanwhile animals are reclaiming their rightful places in locked down cities.
